Took just over 8.5 to 9 hours, non-stop, got back to the parking lot at 8:45pm using head lamps(quick lunch at the top of Algonquin at 5:40 pm).

Next time will break it into two trips and take your easier way up search for the wreckage on Wright then ascend Algonquin and descend the way we go up. As approaching my 60th birthday and not in the best of shape(used to be a runner and ran 15 - 20 miles in training while living in Vermont, so living off my former long ago training, my wife is Norwegian she's used to steep climbs) breaking it into two separate hikes will be more enjoyable and give us a chance to enjoy the scenery more, the waterfalls coming down the side of the trail as we ascended were magnificent and refreshing I can only imagine the water flow cascading down in June. Avalanche Lake is like finding a lost world.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01791831496005281646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1386568491354914329.post-72836384408441166762015-02-18T02:44:12.644-05:002015-02-18T02:44:12.644-05:00That sounds like an awesome hike! Temp was 81, 11am thru 3 pm. Beautiful falls and just enough terrain to qualify as a workout while being in a shaded environment most of the hike. Round trip was 4 hours. Looks like nothing has changed with Cascade. It's a great day trip and a perfect introduction to the High Peaks. My 8 and 9 year old sons made the hike up and were so proud of themselves for conquering what appeared to them to be an impossible task. We did not do Wright this day, but we did Algonquin and Iroquois and, rather than hike back over Algonquin, thought the Avalanche Pass route weould be good. I took a spill at the top of the rock just as we started and was actualy scared I would not stop sliding. So I left a bit of skin on the steep trail. My legs were feeling like yours. My friend's were too. My teenage son was putting us to shame. We were so tired when we finished, much later than we thought we would.Kathy Behuniakhttp://adkhikermom.webs.comnoreply@blogger.com
